Choosing the Most Suitable Home Health Care Agency for You
Choosing the right home care provider is an important decision, one that considers your needs, your wants, and the nature of the care that you require. Having a provider that not only offers the right services but also one that is like minded as yourself and aware of the importance of one-on-one attention is important.
When selecting a home care provider, take the following into account:
- Experience and Expertise: Seek a provider who possesses experience in the kind of care that you require. If you require aid with the activities of daily living, complicated medical care, or special needs for conditions such as dementia, experience plays an important aspect in the delivery of the best quality of care.
- Flexibility: No one knows what the future holds, and your needs change with the lapse of time. Choose a provider with elastic services that will fit your changing needs.
- Individualized Care: Your provider must address you as an individual, creating a unique plan of care that is tailored to your circumstance. Your individualized care is the key to making you feel special and taken care of.
- Communication and Support: Identify a provider with whom you can easily communicate and who is also responsive. You should be able to trust that they will cater to your needs and attend to whatever issues you might have.
By carefully weighing these factors, you’re better equipped to make an informed decision that leads to the proper care for yourself or your loved one.

Our caregivers offer a variety of services depending on the individual needs of the client, such as personal care, meal preparation, medication, or support. Person-centred support with the client’s needs and desires always being the priority of the services we offer.

Our carers are professionals, but above all, they are companions who share an understanding of the personal and psychological needs of those they support. Our goal is to provide a positive and empowering atmosphere that puts the clients at ease and enables them to feel confident in the safety of home.
We also offer the opportunity of a supervising professional with a duty to examine the care plan on an ongoing basis, ensuring the services being provided by them take into account the needs of the client, and adjusting as necessary. Our clients have the benefit of the best quality of care as needs change.
Our home carers as a group are the backbone to the delivery of the care that brings about the well-being and independence of the people who need it and have a great bearing on the life of our client and families.
Home Care Funding Options
With home care services, you have multiple models of funding to fit your needs, your situation, and your level of eligibility. Funding models exist in two broad groupings: government-funded programs and non-government-funded models. Various levels of support and flexibility across the different models of funding exist to provide you with the opportunity to have your care in your home.
Government sponsored.
Home Care Packages: Home Care Packages (HCPs) are the most common form of government aid available to older people in need of support with daily living. They enable the individual to stay in the home for as long as possible, with a number of different services being available that could be coordinated to cater to individual needs. Four levels of the packages – ranging from Low-level needs for the level 1 to High-level, more complex needs for level 4 – exist. The Department of Health funds the packages, with the Australian government running them. A person can apply for a package through My Aged Care.
Upon approval of a package, it will be coordinated by an approved provider, including our organization, that will arrange the delivery of the services and the care. These include being provided by personal care, nursing, domestic maintenance, allied health services, transport support, and social support. Under the Home Care Packages, clients have more choice in choosing the services and the carers that suit the needs of the client’s particular circumstance.
NDIS: The NDIS is a government-funded system that is intended to support people with a disability. The NDIS funds people with a permanent and profound disability to access the support and services necessary to live a productive and independent life. Unlike the Home Care Packages that primarily support older people with a focus on the aged, the NDIS supports people of all ages that qualify.
The participants develop an individualized plan with a planner that outlines the support and services they require. They could include personal support funding, the cost of the therapies, travel, and social participation. The NDIS is highly versatile and is intended to provide the participants with more choices over the way they are supported so that they have the capacity to decide the provider, the service, and the carers that suit them best.
Non-Government Fund
Private homecare: For individuals that do not qualify for government schemes or do not want to have the homecare paid for by the government, private homecare is also available. Private homecare allows the clients to pay privately for the homecare with the added advantage of having the opportunity to have a say in the kind of services to be provided as well as the quality of the services. The services could be personal care, respite, nursing, housekeeping, or companionship.
Private home care is most helpful to those who need more autonomy with regard to their care as it gives them the freedom to select the caregivers of their choice and determine the hours of the caregiver. Private care is also available on short-term or long-term options depending on the client. Private home care is most likely to be chosen by the clients if they need additional support to the one they already have through government programs or they need a more tailored and personalized kind of care.
What’s My Next Step?
If you’re seeking home care for yourself or a loved one, the first step seems overwhelming. But being aware of your choices and having the proper support system in place makes it a lot easier. Here’s a step-by-step guide to what to do next:
- Evaluate Your Needs: The first step toward receiving home care services is to identify the level of care. Take a few minutes to consider the activities of daily living and the responsibilities that could prove challenging to do, such as bathing, dressing, cooking, or cleaning the house. Being aware of the areas of need will aid in the proper choice of the appropriate care services.
- Explore Funding Options: Depending on your eligibility and preference, look into the funding options available to you. If you’re an older person, you could qualify for a Home Care Package. If you have a disability, the NDIS could suit. If government funding isn’t available to you or you’d rather have private care, private home care is a versatile alternative. We will help with the application for funding and guide you on what’s available to you.
- Contact Us: Once you have your needs defined and a funding arrangement in place, contact us to discuss your needs. Our team will assist you to determine your situation and develop a care plan appropriate to your needs. We will also provide you with information on the services available, cost, and what you need to do to prepare for the process of receiving the care.
- Get an Assessment: If you’re seeking government-funded services such as a Home Care Package or NDIS funds, you will need to have an assessment with the relevant authority (i.e. My Aged Care for HCPs or NDIS). You will determine the level of care that you’re entitled to and the services included in your plan as a result of this assessment.
- Commence Receiving Care: Once everything is in position, we will begin to provide the care and services outlined in your care plan. Our carers will support you with the tasks and things that you need help with, providing the quality of care that you need. Our team will review the care plan regularly to make certain it remains appropriate to your needs.
