Home care is the most common first choice for most people because it allows them to be at home while still having the care they need to enjoy the quality of life they’re accustomed to. Whether you’re sick, recovering from surgery, or simply need extra assistance at home, we have many services available to fit the special needs that you have.
Home care is at its finest when it is delivered in collaboration with the individual, family, and provider. When we can work together, the care is effective and also personally focused according to the person’s desires and objectives. At Mona Vale, we’ve gained recognition for delivering care that respects the individual’s uniqueness and encourages self-sufficiency, yet offers the assistance necessary for peace of mind.
It’s such an important decision to choose the most appropriate home care provider, and several things should be considered to ensure you or the loved one gets the most appropriate care. Most importantly, make sure the provider is registered because this will ensure that they have met the highest standards laid by the governing health authorities. Look for a provider who can offer flexible services according to the needs you have, because every individual needs different things. If you need assistance with everyday activities, care, or even companionship, it’s imperative to select the provider who can offer personalized care.
Experience and knowledge on the provider’s side are also considered. You’ll want to ensure the caregivers are trained, experienced, and qualified to provide the type of care you need. Communication and transparency are also elements. Your ideal home care agency will spend the necessary time to become familiar with what you need, develop a care plan, and make follow-up visits on an ongoing basis to ensure the care being provided is appropriate for you.

They are carers, not only caregivers; they are qualified professionals who recognize the importance of delivering independence and dignity with care with everyday activities. We go to great lengths to ensure that carers are thoroughly vetted by background checks, training schemes, and ongoing education to provide the highest standard of care.
Our carers are diverse in background and bring life experience to the work, whether it’s for personal care, household chores, or emotional support. We pair our carers with clients individually to ensure that every individual receives care that is individually appropriate to needs, preferences, and lifestyle. This personal touch allows our carers to form close, trust-based relationships with the people for whom they care, which are necessary in order to provide effective and respectful home care.
In addition to physical care, our carers are trained to assist with the widest possible variety of services including the management of medications, meal preparation, companionship, and transportation. We strive to empower our customers by not only providing care, but also the human touch so that they can be cared for, heard, and treated with respect.
Our carers are also trained to offer special care for dementia, arthritis, mobility problems, and post-operative care. All carers are also trained for caring with individualized care plans, and we ensure that they remain in tune with the needs of the individual. We remain in constant touch with the families and the clients to ensure the care provided is beneficial and being constantly adapted to fit new situations.
Our care philosophy goes beyond activities of daily living assistance. We strive to enhance the quality of life for our clients by respecting the values, maintaining them independent, and creating a sense of well-being. We believe care is more than physical care; it involves making the person’s life safe, stimulating, and able to live life to its full potential.
It can be confusing to navigate the options for the funding of home care. There are different options for obtaining the funding for home care, including government-funded, which offers funding on the basis of eligibility, and the non-government options for the person needing more flexibility or who is ineligible for government funding. Here is the breakdown of the options for funding:
Home Care Packages
Australian Government Home Care Packages (HCP) are intended for older people who need assistance with everyday activities due to ageing, illness, or disability. They assist you to remain at home for as long as possible. Your level of care determines the amount of money you will be funded with, according to My Aged Care’s assessment. There are four tiers for Home Care Packages with varying levels of care and funding.
Once you have received approval for a Home Care Package, you can choose to nominate a registered home care provider (like us) to deliver the care and support services identified in your care plan. Your money can be managed either through the provider or by an independent third-party care management business, if you so choose. With the assistance of a Home Care Package, you can choose to have available to you a comprehensive array of services ranging from personal care and domestic cleaning to nursing and allied health services.
NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme)
The NDIS serves people who are younger than 65 years with enduring and serious disabilities. Under the NDIS, the money can be accessed by people who are eligible to support them to live independently and be able to be active in the community. NDIS funds are portable, and you can use them to purchase house care services, therapies, the assistance with the activities of daily living, and many more.
Your NDIS plan is designed specifically for you, and the money is thereby allocated accordingly. We work with the clients in coordination for the implementation of the services and assistance according to the NDIS plan to facilitate them to gain the highest possible level of care and assistance to accomplish the objectives.
Private Home Care
Private home care is also available for people who are ineligible for government programs or need more flexibility with the services. Private home care allows you to get many different types of services without having to rely on government funding. You pay the provider directly and can have the cost according to what you need and can afford.
Private home care can be an appropriate option for people who need only short-term care, who would like to be able to choose specific types of services, or who don’t wish to go through the government assessment procedure. You can choose the type of services you need and when to have them delivered. Your level of care and the frequency of visits are completely at your choice, offering more autonomy and customisation to fit with the circumstances.
If you or the person you care for is considering home care, the first step is to ascertain the level of care necessary. You can do this by consulting with a professional home care provider who can guide you to identify the specific needs depending on your overall health, activities during the day, and level of assistance to become self-sufficient.
If you’re seeking government funding, you’ll need to make a call to My Aged Care for the initial purpose of either an initial Home Care Package or, if you’re aged less than 65, the NDIS for disability care. Someone will visit to see whether you’re eligible for funding and to what extent you need help. If so, you can choose who your provider (like ours) will work with you to develop an individualized care plan that addresses the things you need specifically.
If you do not qualify for government assistance or if you simply want increased flexibility, private home care can be the perfect solution for you. We can be easily contracted to discuss the services we can provide, and we’ll work together with you to craft an individualized plan to fit your budget and preference.
No matter the funding route, we have staff to assist you through the process, to respond to any of your inquiries, and to ensure that you’re getting the care and services to which you’re entitled. Don’t be afraid to call us to begin the process for obtaining the highest quality home care services specifically to fit your specific needs.
