SIL Provider Norwest

At our business, we see the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) as a wonderful enabler for people with disabilities to live independent and fulfilling lives. We are a registered Specialist Disability Accommodation (SIL) provider in Norwest and are committed to providing high-standard, individualized services to facilitate autonomy, safety, and comfort in a loving community. We have structured our services to meet each client’s individual needs and choices to allow them to live in a safe, comfortable, and authentically their own place.

Our approach to service is founded on a straightforward philosophy: “It’s your home, do the things you love.” We think that everyone should have a place to live that is not only accessible, but caring, empowering, and responsive to their own specific needs. We provide more than a place to live—we want to give a place where our clients feel empowered to do what they love, to pursue their hobbies and passions, and to reach for their aspirations.

With years of experience in disability working, we know how crucial it is to have a sense of belonging and control. Whether you need a short-term stay or a permanent residence or you need specialist care, we have a variety of services to suit different needs. We aim to give each and every individual we work with a sense that they are in their own home and a chance to do what is important to them and what will bring them a sense of happiness and fulfillment.

We offer Supported Independent Living (SIL) to Short-Term Accommodation (STA) and Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) and respite. They all address different aspects of daily life so that a person with a disability has a certain degree of freedom to choose to what extent assistance is needed from time to time in his or her life. We collaborate with NDIS participants, networks, and families to deliver personalized solutions for independence and a high standard of life, according to their own specific needs.

It’s Your Home, Do Whatever Makes You Happy

  • Personalized Care and Care: Living in your own space should be empowering, and that is what our care services aim to do: meet your own individualized needs. If you need to have your daily tasks supported, mobility aids, or healthcare, we are committed to making sure you have all you need to live your own life. We work with you to develop a care plan that is in line with what you want and aspire to.
  •       Pursue Your Passions: Being able to do what you love is crucial to mental and emotional well-being. We provide you with what you require and give you access to resources to do what you love, whether you enjoy painting, playing a musical instrument, sports, or something you enjoy. We are determined to assist and guide you to do what you love and to discover a place in which you can feel safe to flourish and grow.
  • Social Engagement and Connectedness: We understand that relationships and community are a priority to you. We create homes with social opportunity in mind so you can meet individuals, form friendships, and have great moments. Whether you do this in groups or meet individuals, our staff welcomes you to social interactions so you don’t feel isolated and always have a chance to meet new individuals.
  • Promoting Independence: Independence is most important to all of us. While we give you what you need, we want to allow you to have choices, to manage your own life on a daily basis, and to be as independent as you can. Whether you require a helping hand with scheduling meals or managing your own schedule, we allow you to gain skills and confidence to live your own life.
  • Quality of Life: Ultimately, our goal is to enhance your overall quality of life. Having a space that is you and where you can do what is most important to you is most crucial to your overall health. NDIS Housing Norwest

At NDIS Housing Norwest, we provide a complete variety of accommodation and support options to allow people with disabilities to have what they need to live independent and meaningful lives. We provide services to assist NDIS participants to gain more autonomy, with a variety of accommodation and levels of support to suit their individual choices.

SIL (Supported Independent Living)

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is one of our core services. This service provides individuals with the care that allows them to live independently in their own place or shared dwelling. We deliver our SIL services with a range of daily tasks such as cooking, personal care, and housework to allow participants to be independent with professional assistance when required. We tailor our services to meet each client, and we give them what is required to achieve their own goals and a good standard of life.

Our team of skilled and compassionate support workers is dedicated to assisting participants in all aspects of daily routines, from social interaction and mobility to healthcare. With SIL, participants are able to control their own lives, making choices about their care, daily routines, and life choices and being supported to reach them.

MTA (Medium-Term Accommodation)

Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) is for individuals requiring short to mid-term accommodation until more stable accommodation or in between relocation to settlement in the long term. MTA is a stable and compassionate temporary accommodation where participants can receive necessary care and support in transit.

At NDIS Housing Norwest, we provide MTA that is fully furnished and tailored to meet all participants. Rehabilitation, temporary relocation, or respite, MTA gives participants freedom and security in different stages in their NDIS journey. Services from NDIS Housing Norwest assure participants to still have access to needed care and assistance in adjusting to their new homes.

STA (Short-Term Accommodation)

Short-Term Accommodation (STA) is temporary accommodation for short-term stay for anyone who is in need of short stay for any purpose, e.g., holidays, respite care for their families or for hospital stay. STA is a respite for carers and provides that the participant gets proper care and attention for his or her short-term stay.

At NDIS Housing Norwest, STA services are specifically designed to address participant’s own needs, whether to give a break to their carer, a place to recover, or respite in a warm and nurturing environment. All stay aspects are catered for by our staff, and participants can relax and recharge in a caring and safe environment.

Respite

Respite services provide a break for families and caregivers with the assurance that participants are still being supported and cared for, which is what they need in a safe and loving environment. Respite care is short-term accommodation or in-home care and is intended to give a break to caregivers and time to rest and recover with the assurance that loved ones are being cared for.

Our respite care in NDIS Housing Norwest is tailored to meet individual participants’ individual needs. Whether a break from home or regular respite care, we have accommodation and care to give participants and carers a break to recover and rest. We understand what a burden caregiving can be, and our respite care is structured to ease that burden, so participants and carers can thrive.

Our SIL NDIS services include:

As a registered Supported Independent Living (SIL) provider, we are committed to delivering high-standard care and services to individuals with disabilities in the Norwest community. We have professional and committed workers who assist participants to live in their own homes and have access to necessary support to cater to their individual needs.

Help with bathing and dressing in the morning and evening.

Personal care is a basic part of everyday life, and our programs are designed to allow individuals to dress and keep themselves clean and presentable. Whether a participant requires help with showering, dressing, or any other part of personal care, we strive to have them feel dignified, supported, and able to do so. We strive to meet the level of assistance required, promoting autonomy to the best of our ability and offering caring assistance when necessary.

24/7 support for high care

We understand that there are participants who require 24-hour care, and we provide 24/7 care for participants with high levels. We have workers available any time, day or night, to handle routine and crisis issues, keeping participants safe and well taken care of. This level of care is most beneficial for participants with a high level of physical support or a high level of medical complexity.

Assistance with transfers in and out of bed

Mobility challenges are a concern for everybody with a disability. We have trained staff to transfer participants in and out of bed for safety and for comfort. We have trained staff with the proper techniques and equipment to perform transfers in a smooth and dignified manner.

Medication management:

We assist participants with taking medications so that they are taking the right amount at the right times. We can remind them, give them medication, or work with healthcare professionals as needed to have medication management accomplished in a safe and effective way.

Building daily living skills through training

Our services include training in daily life skills such as cooking, housecleaning, and time management. These are skills required to attain autonomy and improve the standard of life. We enable participants to learn new skills in a process incremental to their learning and in a way that is easy for them.

Assistance with daily tasks, such as washing clothes or grocery shopping:

Maintaining a neat and tidy home is crucial to overall good health and well-being. We provide a helping hand with tasks around the house like grocery shopping, doing clothes, and light house cleaning. We provide assistance specific to each participant and aim to develop a participant’s independent capacity to perform them with a minimal degree of future assistance.

Learning social skills

Social interactions can be difficult from time to time, but are crucial to mental and emotional health. We work on social skills such as communication, relationship establishment, and conflict. This may involve role-playing, social groups, and other therapies meant to boost social confidence.

Group activities with housemates

We encourage residents to interact with their roommate in a social setting as this type of activity provides a feeling of community and belonging. Group activities such as game nights, crafts, or outings are structured to enhance socialization, team work, and peer interaction in the house.

Preparing and preparing wholesome and nutritious meals:

Our team is on standby to give food preparation aid to give participants access to good, wholesome, and appetizing foods. We focus on cooking ability and ensuring that meals are adjusted to meet dietary requirements and preference and control and health in cooking is enhanced.

Actioning behaviour support plans

For participants with their own individualised behavioural needs, we work with them and their families to develop and implement behaviour support plans. These are individually tailored and are aimed to promote positive behaviour, to reduce challenging behaviour triggers and to develop coping strategies for challenging situations.

Support for Medical Appointments

Our team is available to accompany participants to appointments, to transport, remind, and to provide participants with all information required to manage their health to the best. We can facilitate communication during appointments to maximize participants’ health gains.

Support with safety, supervision, and security.

Safety is always our priority in all aspects of our services. We have supervision where necessary to ensure participants’ safety and security. Whether in their homes or in the community, our workers are trained to give participants safety, security, and support in all aspects.

Help catching public transport in your community

Independence in the community is an utmost desire for most participants. We provide participants with traveling in public transport, and participants learn to travel using buses, trains, and other modes of transport. This facility provides them with access to a broader scope of community integration and provides them with autonomy.

Help to manage your home budget and finances:

Financial independence is a large part of life. We help participants with budgeting and management of finance and with developing skills such as bill management, saving, and spend budgeting. This helps participants gain more control over their finances and feel independent.

Planning social activities you like

We understand social activities to be a significant aspect of life. We provide participants with planning for activities relative to their own hobbies, to attend a film, to engage in a hobby, or to a community event. These activities develop social skills, build friendships, and improve overall health.

Organising household schedules and tasks

A well-organized house is a prerequisite for a smooth day-to-day operation. We plan schedules and activities within the house and ensure that all tasks and responsibilities are carried out in a most effective way. We plan house chores, social functions, appointments, and other activities to lead a balanced and productive life.

What is Supported Independent Living?

Supported Independent Living or SIL is a service system to allow an individual with a disability to live in his or her community as independently as possible. SIL provides an individual with what is needed to perform daily tasks, his or her homelife, and engage with his or her community. SIL is not a system to fit all but a tailored level of support to allow a person to achieve his or her full potential.

In the SIL model, people are enabled to have and uphold their autonomy in those aspects in which they require support. This can be in respect to personal care, house management, mobility, social contact, and management in respect to medicine. Of particular use is that SIL is designed to give participants control over their own life, to allow them to have choices and be able to decide how they want to live and to have access to care and support.

A key feature of SIL is integration with the community. Through community-based care, SIL enables individuals to participate in social, recreational, and vocational activities that would otherwise be inaccessible. This model is preferable to a holistic well-being approach, promoting not only physical care but also emotional, social, and psychological development.

SIL providers like ourselves collaborate with participants, families, and other stakeholders to create individually tailored plans to address the participant’s aspirations and outcomes. This collaborative process ensures each participant is assisted in a way most suited to their aspirations and needs, and optimises their ability to live independently and overall well-being.
