About Hawkesbury

Hawkesbury is a scenic and lovely location in New South Wales, Australia, with its natural landscape, history, and people-oriented setting. The town, sitting on the banks of the Hawkesbury River, has lovely country and suburban scenery with individuals being able to live away from urban centers such as Sydney and still be able to access urban infrastructure and urban services.

The region consists of a heterogeneous composition of people of varying abilities, backgrounds, and needs. Regional services must, therefore, be accommodative and resilient enough to be able to cater for the needs and opportunities of this heterogeneous composition of people. In Hawkesbury, access to requisite supports becomes more pronounced for people with disabilities, who can be geographically disengaged and may not have access to requisite resources in some locales.

Our role, being a disABILITY NSW provider of the NDIS in Hawkesbury, is to bridge gaps, and our wide variety of services are designed with the purpose of helping people live independent and rewarding lives. From assisting with personal care, providing behavioral supports, and encouraging social inclusion, we understand what works for people in Hawkesbury.

Furthermore, Hawkesbury also has its proportion of country and rural areas where individuals may be more challenged with accessibility. We are delighted to be able to reach such areas and not leave individuals with disabilities with their access hampered because of where they live. With our outreach and in-home provision, we ensure individuals feel not disenfranchised, regardless of their residential environment.

Through our interventions, we wish to promote identity and a sense of belonging, and facilitate people with disabilities in Hawkesbury being able to live their lives with their peers. With our extensive experience working locally for a very long period of time, we understand the individual needs and aspirations of the individuals we support, and can therefore offer very individualised and effective interventions.

Supported Independent Living (SIL)

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) service, whose purpose is to facilitate individuals with disabilities with independent living, with the support for their day-to-day requirements. In Hawkesbury, our SIL services are personalized for every participant, enabling them to live independently in their homes with the best amount of support.

Our SIL housing has the vision of enabling people’s independent lives, with the presence of support staff for housekeeping, personal, and social interaction. The individuals needing support, but with a desire for being independent, can be served with group, or single housing. Choice and control are our goal, with support, for participants, with the freedom of choice of what happens in their lives.

We understand individual needs and wants, and hence our SIL supports are personalized. Some participants require 24/7 support, and others need support on a specific day or on specific times of the day. Our personnel are very competent and experienced with skills for the provision of the support with utmost confidentiality and choice of the individual. This brings a safe and trust environment with the participants, and they can live independently and confidently in the community.

In addition to their individual needs, our SIL also provides support in the areas of finances, cooking, transportation, and recreation and social events. We promote participants’ independent and engaged lives in their communities, be this for employment, education, or recreation. We want participants’ lives to be balanced and fulfilling.

NDIS Medium Term Accommodation (MTA)

Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) offers participants short-term residence, 90 days to two years, in order for them to be able to wait for more stable residence, or transition between settings of care. The participant with a disability may avail of this for their accommodation needs, not being ready for stable residence. In Hawkesbury, we accommodate for the reason of responding to other needs, and the individual circumstance of every participant will be considered and dealt with the support required.

Our MTA supports provide comfortable, clean, and safe housing, with supports individualised for their needs. From short-term residence for pre-arranging more stable provision, or for use as a step towards more extensive rehabilitative treatment, our support staff are on hand to ease the transition. We can provide participants with the care needed for them to settle, and with access to the necessary provision such as personal care, assisting them with day-to-day functioning, and access into mainstream society.

Importantly, our MTA also accompanies individuals in searching for their solution for their future housing, with our team assisting them with setting them up with a long-term housing solution of their choice. With stable and supportive housing for this transition, our individuals feel encouraged and assisted, setting them up for easy transition into independent residence or more settled arrangements.

NDIS Short Term Accommodation (STA)/Respite Care

Short Term Accommodation (STA) and Respite Care are wonderful supports for participants and their families. STA and Respite Care provide participants with short-term relief for their primary caregivers, with participants receiving quality of care and a supportive, safe environment when their caregivers need a break. STA in Hawkesbury has the function of helping individuals with disabilities who need short-term care for a range of different purposes, including for family holidays, holiday for their caregivers, and crises.

We understand the importance of caregivers’ respite and facilitate the individual being served to feel comfortable, safe, and engaged in a positive manner. Our STA services cover assisting with personal needs, social interaction, dining, and healthcare and also offer participants the freedom to interact with other individuals and participate in recreation or therapy. Each participant’s individualized care plan is established with them and their family, and we take every effort to provide care responding to their needs, wants, and goals.

Our team of professional carers and supportive staff are committed to individualised, compassionate care, and assisting participants and their loved ones in becoming comfortable and reassured. If a participant must be admitted for a short-term period, a period of respite for a shorter, not prolonged, duration, our goal is relaxation, safety, and overall happiness for all.
